Volunteer special
Volunteers needed!
The 20th World Conference of GLBT Jews is coming to town! The committee is still
hard at work behind the scenes, and we’d love to have some volunteers to help
out at the conference. If you have already volunteered when you registered,
we’ll contact you.
Here is the special deal for volunteers: You volunteer for a shift of two -
three hours, and then we comp your admission for another two - three hours. If
you’d care to stay for lunch, we’ll invite you to stay for lunch at a special
price of $25 Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch, whichever day you volunteer.
(Other options: bring a sandwich, or walk down to Westwood restaurants.)
If you would like to help out any of the conference days (Aug. 13-15), please
contact me and we can talk about the volunteer opportunities. We will limit this
offer to the number of volunteers needed at any given time.
We need help staffing the registration and hospitality desk at the Hillel,
greeting conference goers, giving directions and on. The tour committee could
use your help with logistics surrounding the bus tour. We will need volunteers
to check nametags and take tickets as needed at the meals. Finally, we need
volunteers to stand by near each session, to monitor needs and troubleshoot any
issue that might arise.
Check out the conference session schedule on the
home page, and on this page so you can plan days and
times you might be free to volunteer, and let us know! If you haven't already
registered for the conference, now is the time to do that. Volunteers must
register for the conference. Spread the word!
E-mail
la2010@glbtjews.org to volunteer.
Student special
The LA2010 Conference is pleased to offer a student special to any full time
students for a free one-day seminars-only admission to the conference. You must
be a full-time student, under 25 years of age, with a valid .edu e-mail address.
(High school students are also welcome. If you do not have a .edu address, just
explain in your e-mail.) Meals are not included, although you may purchase a
ticket in advance for Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch for $25 if you wish. This
offer is limited to the first twenty students who respond to this offer by
e-mailing
la2010@glbtjews.org with the subject “student special.” Spread the word!
The
Jewish Free Loan Association
will offer loans, to Southern California residents only, to cover the cost of
the conference. The JFLA can be reached at (323) 761-8830 (Los Angeles office)
