We are close! London is the place to be!
On June 29, 2012 JGLG anniversary activities start, and July 2 - 3 is WCGLBTJ board meetings, taking place at the Montagu Centre for Liberal Judaism, 21 Maple Street, London.
JGLG’s celebrations are now a month away!
-Friday 29th June 2012 - We kick off our 40th anniversary celebrations: Chavurah led by our three longest serving rabbis - Rabbis Elli Tikvah Sarah, Mark Solomon and Irit Shillor. The Chavurah is dedicated to Student Rabbi Andy Hinz, so tragically murdered ten years ago this summer. Service will start promptly at 7.30pm and be followed by Kiddush and Supper - if you haven’t been to one of our Chavurahs it’s a wonderful time to talk, meet people etc.
-Saturday 30th June: It is our Celebratory Party Tickets are selling fast and we do have a cut-off date because we have to inform caterers, linen suppliers etc etc. If you haven’t booked yet, then I urge you to because we do have a set number of seats we can sell and YOU don’t want to be the one who is disappointed! Apologies if you have already booked but it is important to point out the cut-off date - we simply can’t squeeze someone in like we do at Seder because of catering etc. The evening consists of a Reception with Bubbly and Canapés, a wonderful sit-down meal with a fish or vegetarian option and a terrific cabaret line up with something for everyone in it. We are welcoming our friends from the World Congress of LGBT Jews who are joining us for our celebrations so if you want to meet someone different, then you certainly will at the party and other events.
-Sunday 1st July we will be having a privately led walking tour of Jewish East End London We’ll also stop at the World Famous Bagel Shop at Brick Lane for a bit of light refreshment!! We’re still fixing up times etc so keep an eye out on our website www.jglg.org.uk for updates on this and other events.
-Monday 2nd July from 6-8pm Reform Judaism are hosting a Reception to mark World Pride, our 40th and of course the World Congress of LGBT Jews coming to London for their Board Meeting and our party. This is strictly by invitation only.
-Wednesday 4th July from 8pm onwards we will be at a new LGBT Bar in the West End for drinks
-Friday 6th July JGLG and BKY are proud to join together once again for our traditional pre-Pride Chavurah
-And finally at the end of this wonderful week we celebrate World Pride!! JGLG has a great new banner which we will be marching under together with our friends from BKY, World Congress, GJiL, Keshet and other Jewish LGBT organisations. We’ll let you know the meeting place soon.
