One week until Ga’ava’s participation at the 2011 Montréal Pride Celebrations

Saturday August 13th - Community Day (11:00AM-5:00PM) Stop by Ga’ava’s booth on Ste-Catherine Street in the Village and take a break at the Tel Aviv Beach! Styled on the “Tel Aviv Gay Vibe” campaign, Ga’ava is recreating the beach (yes, the Hilton beach!) in Tel Aviv. Take a break from walking and hang out in the sand and read some literature on rights and freedoms for minorities in Israel. Give-aways will be provided by the Size Doesn’t Matter campaign!

Sunday August 14th - Parade (12:00PM-3:00PM) The highlight of the weekend, join Ga’ava for its 4th appearance in the Montréal Gay Pride Parade! We will be meeting at the corner of René-Lévesque Blvd. and Guy Street at noon (real time not Jewish/Gay time!). The message we wish to stress this year is togetherness: Jews of all ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, and religious creeds are welcome to join! That’s right! Bring your mom, bring your dad, bring your bubbie and zeidie, and bring your friends! We will have an awesome t-shirt for participants to wear and will provide a bagel brunch before the parade. Please wear sunscreen! We kindly ask you to confirm your attendance ASAP to info@gaava.org to ensure that we have enough t-shirts for everyone!

The fringe group Queers Against Israeli Apartheid will most certainly show up to the parade. The best way to counter their negative and divisive message is with a strong, unified presence of likeminded Jews!

Sunday August 14th - DJ Erez Bi (5:00PM-8:00PM) After the parade, join us at the annual T-Dance in Parc Émilie-Gamelin/Berri-UQÀM metro. This year, thanks to the Consulate General of Israel, top Israeli DJ Erez Ben Ishay will be playing the prime 5PM-8PM set at the T-Dance! He will be joined by Québécois DJs Charles Poulin and Stephan Grondin, providing nonstop music from 2:00PM-11:00PM! Admission is free!

We are very excited about our programming for this year’s pride and we can’t wait to celebrate with you and your friends. See you at the parade!
