Gay Porn Star Takes a Stand for Israel
Lucas, 34, who runs his own gay entertainment studio, took issue with Queerty over the way it commented on an interview the Russian-born entertainer did with Butt Magazine implying Israel is to blame for Middle East problems.
Last summer, Lucas made his fourth visit to Israel as part of a solidarity tour which included him performing an adult show for gay soldiers.
In a long interview in Butt which focused on Lucas’ views on a range of issues, the subject of Israel came up in which the interviewer asked “There seems to be so much wrong with Israeli society.”
Lucas replied: “Have you been there? It’s not complicated at all... Israel is the only free society in the Middle East. They treat women and gays like human beings, not like dogs. I really can’t stand how Europe has such a strange attitude toward Israel. I guess it’s because Europe always felt guilty for the Holocaust, so for Europe it’s a big relief to see Jews using weapons and defending themselves for the first time so that Europe can say, “Oh, great, they’re just like us.” I mean, come on. The Europeans hate us. What else could be the reason that they choose the side of the Arabs who have been throwing bombs on everybody for years and year and years?
The interviewer then said: “I don’t know. Why do you think that is?”
To which Lucas replied: “Because the world is not used to seeing a Jew as a strong man protecting his country with weapons.”
Commenting on the quote, Queerty wrote: “For our part, we think it’s because people are tired of seeing Israel using its weapons, but what do we know?”
An angry Lucas has since had an email exchange with Queerty editor Andrew Belonsky saying: “Now, by saying that the world is tired of Israel using its weapons, are you suggesting that Israel should not use them? Do you know that that would cause a massacre of every Israeli citizen? Do you understand that this is not some imagined fear? This is the state agenda of countries like Iran and Palestine.”
Lucas also took issue with Belonsky and his comments on how liberal Israel is towards the gay community.
“what do you mean Israel “may be” more liberal with regard to gay people? It’s absolutely liberal and even more liberal in aspects such as gays serving in the army than it is here in the US, there is no “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”
For his part, Belonsky put in his response: “I think everyone’s tired of Israel using its weapons - whether they feel they’re justified or not. You can’t possibly say you’d like to see this war go on until the end of time, can you? Perhaps my statement was a bit one-sided, but it’s hardly as deep as all that.”
